can motel owner be liable for theft of property from my room?

my hotel room was burglarized it is where i live . I was led to believe there were security cameras up around the property by employees , the room door is easily broken into by just a screwdriver and i asked it to be fixed the first day i moved into it , now i find there are no cameras and still nothing done to the lock on my door . Can the hotel owner be held liable?

they cant be if you signed a release stating that they are not responsible for any type of items stolen from your car/room. and you as a guest there should know better, if you KNEW things were broken such as the door, you should have taken the necessary precautions to put your items in a safer place.
