Doorbell rings when neighbor opens garage door — What do you do?

Ok — I have a wireless battery operated doorbell — when my neighbor uses her remote control to open her garage door my doorbell chimes … sort of irritating … what can be done to stop this.. thanks

Your doorbell operates on one of the “low-power” PUBLIC RF bands (Radio Frequency). So does the neighbors remote garage door opener. Unfortunately, they are probably on the same band or “harmonically related” bands.

Apparently, your receiver (at the doorbell end) does NOT have good rejection and/or is NOT “coded”, and responds to ALL nearby transmissions in the band, (or a “harmonic” of the band.)
Considering the low prices I have seen on these doorbells, it may have NO rejection; in which case be glad the neighbor doesn’t have a kid with a Radio Shack RC car!!)

Under the law, there is nothing you CAN do except try a different brand of doorbell maybe. One with a different operational frequency; THERE ARE SEVERAL BANDS. (The frequency should be listed in the specifications!)

You COULD switch to a WIRED bell!
